How does SmartLipo™ differ from LipoDissolve?

They are two completely different procedures. SmartLipo™ is a laser-assisted procedure using a one millimeter cannula inserted into the skin. The laser fiber inside the cannula delivers energy to the fat cells, causing them to rupture and drain away as liquid. Simultaneously, tissue around the area coagulates, resulting in overall tighter skin tissue. LipoDissolve, on the other hand, is an injection that melts fat which, over time, is absorbed by the body.

What happens to the liquefied fat after SmartLipo™?

The liquefied fat is suctioned out and any residual liquefied fat is absorbed by your body.

Does SmartLipo™ hurt?

The target area is infused with a numbing agent that makes the procedure very tolerable. Post procedure you can feel achey, which is easily calmed by ice and Tylenol™.

Does SmartLipo™ cause bruising?

Yes, there most likely will be bruising but it is usually much less than with conventional liposuction

Can I return to my normal activities immediately after?

We recommend giving yourself a couple of days before returning to work, and three weeks before returning to your exercise routine. Often, if your job is a desk job, you may return after a day of downtime.

How does SmartLipo™ dissolve the fat?

A laser fiber inside of the cannula delivers energy directly to fat cells, causing them to rupture and drain away as liquid. These fat cells will not re-form. .

Can the fat return after the treatment?

The targeted fat cells have been dissolved and will never return.

Can more than one area be done at the same time?

Yes, however, that is somewhat dependant on the body areas that need the treatment.

What areas can be done with SmartLipo™?

Laser Body Sculpting is ideal for the neck, jaw line, arms, “bra fat”, abdomen, “love handles”, man breasts, inner and outer thighs and knees.

Who does the SmartLipo™ treatments in Dr. Wolin’s office?

Dr. Wolin does all of the treatments. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and has been for 23 years. This is the highest accreditation a plastic surgeon can attain.

How long does a SmartLipo™ treatment take?

Of course, the times can be variable area to area but the norm would be about 45 minutes.

Do I have to be sedated for a SmartLipo™ treatment?

The area to be treated is injected with a local numbing medication that makes the procedure very tolerable. Some patients may elect to take an oral sedative to help them relax.

Can I drive myself to and from the SmartLipo™ treatment?

Yes, you can, unless you have medicated yourself.

What post operative care is needed?

Rest for the first day, ice and Tylenol may help your comfort level, although your comfort may not be much of an issue. The area should be kept dry for one week.

Will I have to wear a compression garment?

Some type of compression is usually suggested for about three weeks or until any bruising has resolved.
