Otoplasty is usually done to “pin” prominent ears closer to the head, to reduce the size of large ears or to reshape unattractive and mismatched ears.  Large ears or even small ears that stand straight out from the head can be distracting and appear comical, affecting ones self esteem. Otoplasty surgery creates a more intelligent look adding to the patient’s sense of self confidence.

This is a relatively simple procedure that Dr. Wolin can do several ways by sculpting or repositioning the cartilage.  Post operatively the patients head is usually wrapped in a bulky bandage to help mould the ears, often the patient is transitioned to a lighter bandage for protection during the final healing process.

Normal activities can be resumed in a week or so but care must be taken not to bend the ear for about a month.
